Top five handbags for 2013
The right handbag can add a pop of colour, touch of luxury or pinch of practicality to any outfit. This year, accessory addicts everywhere will be itching to get their hands on the following top five handbag trends...
1.    Small but Perfectly Formed
In 2012, no discerning fashionista would be seen dead without her oversized tote, but things have shrunk considerably in 2013. This year’s hottest trend is for tiny, dainty messenger handbags in earthy tones or bright jewel colours. They’re ideal for smartening up a casual outfit, but you’ll have to reduce what you carry to the bare essentials.
2.    Wild and Woolly
While you might want to wait until summer to rock your mini messenger bag, winter’s handbags are all about textures: wool, faux fur or animal skin are perfect for the colder months.
3.    Monochrome
Last year, the catwalks were packed with bright blocks of clashing colour mixed with black, a la Mondrian. But if sunshine yellow skirts and azure blue blouses aren’t for you, choose a bold monochrome handbag for a more subtle way to add statement style to your outfit.
4.    Practical Glamour
Clutch bags are a hot catwalk trend, but while a tiny clutch can look extremely elegant, most of us need a little more room. Oversized clutch bags are the ideal solution – they exude elegance and add impact to any outfit but are also large enough to fit your going out essentials.
5.    Rock Chic
Chains, studs and spikes are still big news for 2013, but if the Leather Tuscadero look is not for you, channel rock chic with a handbag that incorporates metallics in an understated way. Look for a bag with chain straps, metal handles or rivet detail for a more sophisticated take on the rock and roll trend.
